Blaaame vidogaaaaameeees! Well, Katzenberg does
In a terribly awesome attempt to recoup some dignity after milking the Shrek-cow for the final time, and see the driplets not selling so well: Co-founder of Dreamworks Jeffrey Katzenberg blames video games for a supposed challenge. "The Cut Scene" reported:
DreamWorks Animation CEO and Hollywood veteran Jeffey Katzenberg (co-founder of DreamWorks SKG, former head of Walt Disney Studios) ... blamed videogames in part for the soft performance of "Shrek the Third" on DVD compared to "Shrek 2"
If it's not the pirates, it's the 'other' gamers. Can't the entertainment industry just nod its head while saying: "we did a shitty movie/game/record/alliance with the Devil". Obviously, this is not going to happen and thus we need someone to blame. Who's used to take shit from everybody? Gamers! Now there's a solution. Then again, of course there's competition, what the hell did Katzenberg think. Movies let you be awed, games let you awe. If the movie isn't good, another part of entertainment will scoop up the crumbs. And I think this scares the likes of K. They've finally realized that there's enough of us to make an impact moneywise - in the legit way.
